Software Engineering Director to lead the definition, design, and development of advanced tools for incident and problem management at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Provide technical and operational leadership to engineering teams to reduce the duration, recurrence, and impact of incidents and to build resilient cloud services and automation solutions. Base pay range
$107,100.00/yr - $251,600.00/yr Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing software engineering team, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability. Drive the development and delivery of incident and problem management tools and platforms meeting quality, scalability, and reliability standards. Partner with senior leaders, product managers, and stakeholders to shape strategy, define priorities, and align technical solutions with organizational objectives. Design and implement resilient cloud services and operational automation tools to improve incident detection, analysis, and response. Champion DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, and monitoring. Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to maintain a robust, modern engineering ecosystem. Oversee project delivery to ensure products are shipped on time and within budget, with a focus on customer needs. Analyze incident and operational data to drive continuous improvement of tools and processes. Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements in all engineering solutions. Facilitate cross-functional communication between technical and non-technical teams to align goals and share knowledge. Prepare clear documentation and executive-level reports to communicate complex technical ideas and project status to senior management and executives. Develop and maintain documentation, processes, and standards to support sustainable development practices. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 8-10+ years of experience in software engineering, with focus on building resilient cloud services and operational automation tools. Strong proficiency in Java and experience with modern software development frameworks and tools. Proven track record of leading software engineering teams and delivering high-quality products on schedule and within budget. Extensive experience with cloud computing technologies (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP). Deep understanding of DevOps principles and practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing). Experience with incident analysis, post-incident problem management, and initiatives to improve system reliability and availability. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with a focus on iterative development and continuous improvement. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and documentation for senior audiences. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to influence technical direction and drive complex projects to completion. Experience mentoring and developing high-performing engineering teams. Familiarity with compliance, privacy, and security standards in cloud environments is a plus. Industry certifications and AI/ML approaches for incident response are advantageous. Disclaimer
