Overview

Director Software Engineering (AWS/Cloud Infrastructure) – Capital One. You’ll lead the delivery of AWS/Cloud Infrastructure capabilities for enterprise use, leveraging experience with containers, Terraform, AWS CDK, Kubernetes, ECS, durable workflow execution, continuous reconciliation, and polyglot programming to build platforms for infrastructure management. You’ll explore GenAI and advanced automation techniques to reduce or eliminate infrastructure failures impacting availability of customer-facing web and mobile applications. Responsibilities

Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team Collaborate with product managers to understand desired application and platform capabilities and testing scenarios Continuously improve software engineering practices Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies within and across Agile teams Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community Encourage innovation, cutting-edge technology adoption, inclusion, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity Collaborate to improve the velocity of your teams and other teams Lead efforts to enable and simplify the use of new and existing AWS services Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree At least 7 years’ experience in software development At least 5 years’ experience in people management Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering 10+ years’ experience in software development 5+ years’ experience in Agile practices Sponsorship : Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries are for candidates hired to work within listed locations and reflect amounts Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. Locations and ranges: McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200; Richmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800. Candidates hired to work in other locations will follow that location’s pay range, reflected in the offer letter. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
