is seeking a full-time Associate Chief Nursing Officer (Patient Care Services) to join their team. The ACNO has responsibility and accountability for establishing and maintaining excellence in nursing practice and effectiveness and efficiency of nursing operations within the defined areas of Women’s and Children. This position also provides operational oversight for the supplemental staffing team and staffing office. The role serves as a facilitator of collaborative professional relationships among medical staff, academic programs, corporate programs, and hospital operations to create a healing and supportive environment for patients and staff. The position models nursing policies and procedures and holds others accountable for meeting standards informed by industry best practices or regulatory requirements. The ACNO leads the advancement and innovation of nursing clinical delivery operations throughout the University of Illinois. Responsibilities

Actively engage in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for Nursing aligned with the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. Identify opportunities to improve the value of care and services to patients and families. Identify and support community outreach, philanthropy and marketing initiatives that may enhance development of new business or research opportunities. Provide nursing operations consultation and engagement at an institutional level for the Service Line/Groupings for the organization. Ensure the integration of service line planning into nursing resource management, strategic planning and operational budgets. Promote the development and implementation of inter- and intra-disciplinary research by staff and faculty. Contribute to the advancement of nursing through professional research and scholarly activities. Inspirational Leadership

Provide vision, direction and leadership to the department of nursing. Work collaboratively across organizational lines to facilitate hospital and nursing operations and ensure patient needs are met. Act as a change agent and manage organizational change efforts to ensure operational effectiveness. Operational Leadership

Lead program planning, implementation and evaluation for areas of responsibility at both strategic and tactical levels. Ensure ongoing personal development plans and provide management development and coaching for other members of the nursing team. Represent the medical center at state, local and national levels through involvement in professional associations. Accountable for ensuring exceptional patient experience through patient-centered initiatives and high levels of customer service. Facilitate the development and implementation of evidence-based practice and quality efforts. Maintain an environment that promotes patient safety, high reliability of processes and quality outcomes. Participate in regulatory and accreditation readiness, sustaining an understanding of requirements and standards. Ensure areas of responsibility consistently meet these standards. Develop and oversee departmental budgets and ensure financial accountability for annual operations and capital expenditures and budgets. Assure efficiencies in staffing and resource utilization by benchmarking against internal and external standards, measuring productivity and cost per unit. Ensure availability of appropriately trained staff to deliver high-quality nursing care. Develop and implement staffing patterns to meet fluctuating volume and acuity. Cultivate a culture that promotes professional growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, constructive communication, flexibility, teamwork, and customer service. Maintain consistency in the employee performance appraisal process and focus on internal talent management and retention. Promote positive service relationships with patients/families, physicians, labor unions and staff across UI Health System. Functional Leadership

Promote clinical programs internally and externally. Participate in educational programs. Provide opportunities for staff development based on scientific advances, technology, societal changes, or health care delivery systems. Support integration of operations between the college of nursing and nursing services. Model the mission, vision and values of Nursing. Display and uphold professional service behaviors and hold others accountable for the same. Minimum Qualifications

Eligibility for Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required. BSN or MSN required. Master’s degree required; earned doctorate preferred. Experience in management or nursing leadership. A minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible healthcare leadership experience, with a track record in ambulatory and/or hospital clinical operations, clinical program development, and related business planning. National Certification (ANCC, AONE, ACHE, etc.) required or anticipated within 6 months of employment. Strong analytical ability and the capacity to design complex clinical or administrative systems. Ability to lead, teach and persuade others; established reputation as a leader, consultant, and spokesperson for nursing. Comprehensive understanding of health care delivery in patient care settings, including strategy, business planning, operations and finances. Understanding of health care industry changes, competitive actions, legal/regulatory changes and technology trends. Salary & Benefits

Salary:

The budgeted salary range for the position is $222,000 – $343,500. Final salary offered will be determined by market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical to be offered a salary at the top of the full range.
