Overview Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., creating the Kindle family and devices such as Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Echo. As a Compliance Engineer, you will apply expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) and ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and product certification processes. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative wireless products, drive compliance requirements, design analysis, and compliance testing. You must be responsive, flexible, and capable of thriving in an open, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Research and specify regulatory and industry compliance requirements in collaboration with product management and design teams.

Plan and direct compliance testing of hardware platforms, devices, and accessories with external third‑party test labs.

Support the design team through product execution to meet applicable regulatory compliance requirements.

Conduct detailed independent research and literature reviews to resolve ambiguous regulatory compliance issues.

Deliver concise and informative compliance updates to leadership.

Collaborate with manufacturing partners and labs to ensure in‑production devices remain compliant with certifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in RF/Microwave Design, Electromagnetics, Antenna, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of experience in wireless regulatory compliance, testing, and certifications.

3+ years of experience with wireless technologies (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, GPS, WWAN such as GSM/WCDMA/LTE/5G, etc.).

1+ year of experience with launching mass‑produced consumer electronics.

1+ year of experience in wireless router certification and homologations for international markets.

Master's or PhD degree in RF Design, Microwave Design, and/or Electromagnetics (preferred).

Experience with 6 GHz routers and/or AFC system development.

Experience obtaining industry certifications (e.g., BT SIG, WFA).

Experience with standards development, industry advocacy groups, and regulatory committees.

Experience in RF architecture design and RFIC/RFFE chipset design.

Strong leadership in driving certification labs, prioritizing testing plans, and meeting deadlines.

Experience in test setups with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, OTA chambers, and related equipment.

Excellent written and verbal communication, strategic thinking, and ability to develop solutions quickly and effectively.

Travel and cross‑functional collaboration as needed; strong organizational and project management skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year to $185,000/year, depending on location and experience. This is a total compensation company; depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided.
