Overview
Staff Software Engineer, Capacity & Efficiency Engineering. Uber is hiring for a Staff Backend Software Engineer to join in San Francisco or Seattle. You will help define a holistic vision and build core products across focus areas such as capacity planning, forecasting, budgeting, capacity management, hardware allocation, as well as fleet-wide monitoring and complex analytics. Responsibilities
Work with teams across Uber to identify, model and project capacity needs over time, help scale services and platforms within our capacity budget and find opportunities to make Uber more efficient. Build products and services that are highly available and scalable to serve our customers. Architect, design and build software solutions to support capacity planning/management/engineering to scale Uber\'s infrastructure across a variety of workflows and business processes. Collaborate with teammates to maintain the health of systems and codebase, refactor and improve robustness and resilience. Write clear documentation so that other engineers can partner to contribute and deliver. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. Solid understanding of distributed system fundamentals. 5+ years of experience building distributed systems and big data solutions. Proficient in Go, Python, Java, Javascript; good scripting skills and ability to pick up new languages. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of fullstack development. Background in building high-performance, scalable, distributed systems. Backend experience with data engineering, data pipelines, big data systems, data science, SQL, analytics. Systematic problem solving approach and knowledge of algorithms, data structures and complexity analysis. Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL). Grit, drive and strong ownership with collaborative mindset. Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year for US-based locations. You will be eligible to participate in Uber\'s bonus program and may be offered an equity award and other compensation. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
