Overview

Principal Analog Design Engineer role at Teledyne FLIR Defense. Join Teledyne FLIR Defense, where we are dedicated to safeguarding lives with cutting-edge sensing and threat detection technologies. We are looking for passionate innovators eager to shape the future of the Defense industry. Job Summary

Principal Analog Design Engineer with a track record of designing high-performance analog circuits, with some experience designing open/closed loop servo controllers. Candidates should also possess technical expertise in analog and sensor signal conditioning circuits, microprocessor systems, programmable and discrete digital logic, power supply circuitry, electrical/electronic interfacing systems, and a general understanding of systems embedded software functionality. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Low Noise Analog Circuit Design: Develop low-noise analog conditioning circuits, including interface circuits for fiber optic gyros, resolver, and accelerometer sensors. Apply high-resolution analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters. Precision Control Systems: Design analog circuits for precision servo and motion control applications, ensuring accurate positioning and smooth operation. Feedback Loops: Implement low noise, high accuracy feedback loops for sensors (encoders, resolvers, fiber optic gyros) to enable closed-loop control in servo systems. Motor Drive Interfaces: Create interfaces for brushed and brushless (BLDC) motor drive circuits, including power amplifiers and PWM controllers. Power Supply Circuitry: Develop low and medium power linear and switching power supplies to meet design requirements. Electrical/Electronic Interfacing: Create robust interfacing systems (CAN bus, I2C, RS422, high-speed LVDS) with good signal integrity considerations. Systems Embedded Software: Understand systems embedded software functionality to collaborate effectively with software engineers. Component Selection: Evaluate and select components (op-amps, voltage regulators, passive components) based on project requirements. Testing and Validation: Develop test plans and procedures; validate and characterize analog designs with the engineering team. PCB Layout Support: Guide PCB layout designers to ensure proper placement and routing of analog components. Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Required Job Qualifications

Strong knowledge of analog design principles, including amplifiers, filters, voltage references, and data converters. Strong knowledge of power supply design using linear and switching topologies. Experience with mixed-signal design and integration. Experience with PCB design and layout considerations for analog and power circuits. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Experience using oscilloscopes and other lab equipment. Experience with CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, Siemens PADS). Preferred Job Qualifications

Experience with block diagram software packages such as Visio and/or AutoCAD. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Experience managing outside design houses when resources are thin. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Education and Experience

U.S. Citizenship required due to program requirements. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Minimum 12 years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other engineering or science degrees considered with strong electronics design and systems experience.
