Senior Engineering Manager - Trust and Safety

Databricks is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Security Foundation Engineering within Trust & Safety. This role focuses on building and scaling secure frameworks, primitives, and tooling across the Databricks platform, with a emphasis on application security, internal access, and compliance. Join a team dedicated to protecting the Databricks data and AI platform by embedding security into every layer of the product. You will partner with engineering and product leaders to design and implement secure systems, drive security best practices, and lead a high-performing engineering team through multiple phases of growth. Responsibilities

Build and scale a high-performing engineering team focused on application security, internal access, and compliance. Define and execute the strategy for secure frameworks, primitives, and tooling used across Databricks. Partner with engineering and product leaders to ensure security by design in new initiatives. Drive adoption of security best practices by building easy-to-use, scalable frameworks and services. Provide technical oversight for secure system design and reduce technical debt in core security components. Represent Databricks and our security practices to senior leadership and externally to the industry. What We Look For

9+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 5+ years in leading engineering teams. Strong track record building and managing high-performing teams with scalable growth experience. Deep understanding of application security and internal access control domains, with expertise in authentication, identity management, access control, cryptography, secure frameworks, detection and response. Experience driving cross-functional initiatives that require influencing without direct authority. Ability to provide architectural technical direction while enabling pragmatic execution. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to evangelize security and inspire teams and stakeholders. BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The Local Pay Range for this role is $217,000—$288,400 USD. Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and region-specific benefits. The exact package is based on factors such as skills, experience, certifications, and location.
