Responsible for shaping and executing Neurocrine’s global facilities and real estate strategy.
Ensures all facilities, domestic and international—supporting biotech innovation, business continuity, sustainability, and exceptional employee experience. Oversees all aspects of real estate acquisition, construction, renovation, lease management, and facilities operations while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and long-term alignment with corporate growth objectives. Your Contributions
Develop and implement a global facilities and real estate strategy aligned with corporate strategy, growth priorities, and sustainability goals Oversee Neurocrine’s global real estate portfolio, including site acquisition, construction, renovation, lease negotiations, and disposition Lead execution of capital improvement projects, laboratory and GLP buildouts, and space planning programs to support business growth, scientific innovation, and workforce needs Ensure optimal day-to-day functioning of all facilities, including building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural) as well as specialized biotech infrastructure Champion sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, green building standards, ESG reporting, and workplace experience programs Ensure compliance with FDA, EHS, OSHA, and international regulatory requirements across laboratory, manufacturing, and office facilities Partner with multiple functional leadership to ensure facilities strategies enable pipeline execution, clinical trials, and commercial readiness Develop and manage global budgets for facilities operations and real estate, ensuring cost efficiency, fiscal discipline, and alignment with company objectives Lead company-wide facilities continuity planning, including risk assessments, scenario planning, and resilience strategies to safeguard critical business operations Develop and enforce EH&S policies, ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards, and champion a strong safety culture. Experience with risk assessments and incident investigations. Oversees maintenance, utilities and site infrastructure, leads capital projects, and implements sustainability initiatives such as energy and water conservation. Establish governance frameworks and global standards for facility operations, capital projects, vendor management, and real estate decision-making Anticipate and adopt innovative building technologies, automation, and digital solutions that enhance safety, sustainability, and scalability Represent Neurocrine externally with regulators, developers, government agencies, and real estate partners; identify and secure incentives to support expansion projects Recruit, develop, and mentor a global team of directors, managers, and professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, executive leadership, and the Board on facilities and real estate strategy, providing insight on long-term trends and business needs Other duties as assigned Requirements
BS/BA in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate, Business Administration and 20+ years of relevant experience or in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate, Business Administration MBA/MS/MA in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate, Business Administration and 17+ years of related experience noted above Recognized as an internal thought leader with extensive technical and business expertise Proven ability to influence and partner with C-suite leaders and the Board. Strong business acumen and ability to think and operate cross-functionally in a dynamic, regulated environment Ability to anticipate external trends (real estate, biotech market, sustainability, regulatory) and translate into long-term strategy Exceptional leadership skills, including building and mentoring global teams, fostering innovation, and driving accountability Trusted advisor and company-wide strategic leader, modeling Neurocrine’s values of passion, integrity, collaboration, innovation, and tenacity Extensive knowledge of global real estate, facilities management, and capital project execution Deep expertise in biotech/life sciences facilities, including laboratory design, GMP manufacturing, vivarium operations, and compliance requirements Proven experience ensuring compliance with FDA, EMA, OSHA, EHS, and other international regulatory standards Strong understanding of biotech R&D and manufacturing workflows, with ability to align facilities strategies to scientific and commercial objectives Demonstrated success in leading sustainability initiatives (e.g., LEED, green building standards, ESG reporting, hybrid workplace planning) Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and lease accounting standards Vendor management and contract negotiation expertise across complex, multi-site operations Knowledge of emerging building technologies, automation, and digital facility management systems Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred Engineering degree preferred Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/Disability/Vets employer. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 40% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
