Reports to Vice President Of Operations and Finance
Opportunity The Director of Conference Services & Hospitality will lead Covenant College's summer conference program and related auxiliary services with an initial focus on delivering excellent event services and ensuring smooth operations for summer conferences and campus events. This includes coordinating logistics across housing, dining, facilities, IT, athletics, and other partners, while also supporting internal events on campus. The role also involves promoting Covenant's campus to external groups and maintaining strong client relationships, though the emphasis is on executing details with excellence and providing a seamless guest experience. Over time, this position may expand to include broader auxiliary and business operations. The right candidate will bring hospitality instincts, operational and financial acumen, and the ability to execute details with excellence. If successful, this position will have the opportunity to build and lead a team that strengthens Covenant's auxiliary operations and financial sustainability.
Position Responsibilities Summer Conferences & Event Services (Primary Initial Focus):
Oversee logistical planning, scheduling, and on-site support for summer conferences, camps, and campus event services.
Coordinate housing, dining, facilities, IT, athletics, and bookstore needs.
Support internal event services by assisting faculty, staff, and student organizations with planning and execution.
Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal and student staff.
Ensure all guests experience Covenant's mission through hospitality and service excellence.
Evaluate conferences and events post-event and implement improvements for future years.
Support outreach efforts by responding to inquiries, developing proposals, and marketing Covenant's campus to prospective groups as part of growing the conference program.
Guest Experience & Business Operations (Growth Opportunity):
Analyze auxiliary services (bookstore, food service, print shop, etc.) for efficiency and growth potential.
Partner with Accounting/Finance to track KPIs, profitability, and operational dashboards.
Contribute to pricing models, policies, and operational standards across business operations.
Manage vendor relationships to ensure strong service and financial outcomes.
Build, train, and lead a small support team if revenue growth and operational expansion warrant.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree or appropriate professional experience (Business, Hospitality, or related field preferred).
3+ years' experience in event management, hospitality, conference services, or business operations.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects end-to-end (contracts, logistics, execution).
Strong financial and analytical skills; able to balance service quality with fiscal responsibility.
Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends during conference season.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience in a college/university conference services environment.
Strong background in event management and operations.
Supervisory experience leading seasonal or part-time staff.
Record of implementing operational improvements that resulted in measurable growth or savings.
Marketing or sales experience in hospitality or events (preferred, but not required).
Additional Eligibility Requirements
A personal acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
An understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College.
Agreement with Covenant College's Staff Commitments.
Work Environment
Professional office setting, with significant time on foot during conference season.
Regular use of office technology (computer, phone, copier).
Frequent walking across campus during events.
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Evening and weekend work required during peak conference periods.
