Director of Supply Chain Overview

The Director of Supply Chain oversees all supply chain, logistics, procurement, and inventory management functions to support U.S. Government contracts. This role ensures compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS), Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) standards, and other applicable government regulations. The Director develops strategies to manage cost, risk, and performance across suppliers and subcontractors, while aligning with program delivery, mission readiness, and contractual obligations. Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with company objectives and government customer requirements. Partner with Program Management, Contracts, and Operations to ensure supply chain supports program delivery and growth.

Procurement & Compliance

Lead procurement activities, including sourcing, negotiating, and awarding subcontracts, in compliance with FAR/DFARS. Maintain CPSR (Contractor Purchasing System Review) readiness and support DCMA/DCAA audits.

Supplier & Subcontractor Management

Establish supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation processes. Manage relationships with critical subcontractors, ensuring on-time and cost-effective delivery.

Logistics & Inventory

Oversee materials management, warehousing, import/export compliance (ITAR, EAR), and logistics in support of domestic and international programs.

Team Leadership

Build and lead a high-performing supply chain organization, including buyers, subcontract administrators, and logistics staff. Implement training and development programs for compliance and efficiency.

Compliance

Cradle to grave knowledge of FAR/DFAR and commercial requirements, including terms and conditions. Possess a disciplined mindset for process and compliance through simplified policies and procedures. Conduct Contracts and Supply Chain training to ensure a robust compliance program is in place.

Metrics & Reporting

Define and track KPIs (on-time delivery, supplier quality, cost savings, small business utilization). Provide supply chain performance reporting to executive leadership and government customers.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (master's preferred). 10-15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain/procurement, with at least 5 in leadership roles. Strong knowledge of

FAR/DFARS , CPSR requirements, and U.S. government contracting environment. Experience with

subcontract management, cost analysis, and supplier negotiations . Familiarity with

ERP/SCM systems

(e.g., SAP, Deltek Costpoint, Oracle). Active Secret or higher security clearance often preferred. Critical Competencies Deep understanding of

compliance and audit readiness . Ability to balance

cost, schedule, and risk

in high-stakes government programs. Skilled in

stakeholder management

(internal executives, government customers, subcontractors). Proven track record of leading

process improvements and cost-saving initiatives . Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong leadership and team development capabilities. Company EEO Statement
