The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing Arista’s commodity strategies for Sheetmetal, RackSolutions, and Front-End Power Supplies to drive time to market, continuity of supply, and cost reduction initiatives. You’ll work across the supply chain to support operations and collaborate closely with Engineering on sourcing strategies. The role requires familiarity with the full range of strategic sourcing activities, including spend analysis, formulation and implementation of commodity strategies, contract negotiation, and ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships. What You’ll Do
Creates, implements, and maintains sourcing strategies for assigned commodities to support company requirements. Undertakes spend analysis, supplier assessment and supplier selection to agreed processes. Develops and implements commodity strategies in line with company and manufacturing initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce total cost of supply chain management. Builds cost models (TAC/should cost) to validate commodity strategies and understand cost drivers. Coordinates activities with Engineering, NPI, and suppliers to ensure selection of parts with long lifetimes and solid supply availability. Manages relationships with suppliers on behalf of Arista with site supply chain leads. Develops a robust commodity supply base leveraging global markets, spend, and best-in-class technologies to create and sustain a competitive advantage. Monitors and reports on priority projects and savings. Ensures that strategic sourcing targets for cost reduction are met within the commodity portfolio, including improvement plan targets and year-over-year cost reductions. Provides support to NPI teams to meet target costs and establish program cost models. Negotiations and management of cost models for suppliers, including hard (price, volume discounts) and soft (expertise, technical backup) components within Total Acquisition Cost (TAC) and Total Opportunity Cost (TOC). Identifies and delivers opportunities for cost reduction. Provides input for annual and long-term savings targets. Trains and mentors junior supply chain personnel on strategic sourcing processes. Ensures appropriate performance measures (Technology, Quality, Cost and Delivery) of the supply base and provides feedback on results. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations or Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years’ experience in a networking environment, electronics or electrical purchasing, commodity management and materials management positions. CPIM, CIRM, and/or CPM desired. Excellent program and project management skills. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management. Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams and coordinate cross-site, multi-functional objectives. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Understanding of assigned commodities, materials, and manufacturing processes. Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office with strong capabilities in Project and Access. Compensation Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a pay range of $142,000 to $188,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location and other factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and location. The pay range reflects base pay only; some roles may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and equity. US-based employees may participate in the Sales Incentive Plan where applicable.
