Summary: BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is a large, diversified health care organization with roots in the South Carolina community. We are a leading administrator of government contracts and operate a sophisticated data processing center in the Southeast. This role is part of the CGS Administrators family of companies.

Position Purpose As the Vice President, CIO for CGS Administrators, you will provide executive leadership and responsibility for the effective and efficient control of all functional operations of the division, including system security, data analytics, production support, development, and project delivery. The Vice President, CIO is dedicated to Medicare lines of business and is responsible for overseeing alignment with CMS/Medicare policies and procedures. You will formulate strategy for the contract and/or business unit and oversee its execution.

As a member of the CGS Executive Leadership Team, you will ensure that all contractual and/or corporate standards and requirements are met and that all corporate guidelines are followed. You will lead all staff according to a strong moral and ethical code of conduct that is aligned with the compliance policy. In this role, the Vice President, CIO establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all internal and external clients, as well as has the overall authority for the contract and/or business unit.

Location: This position is full-time (40-hours/week) Monday-Friday working onsite at our One Century Plaza, 26 Century Blvd, Suite ST610, Nashville, TN 37214 location.

What You’ll Do

Lead a large division with multiple direct reports, overseeing core functional areas including system security, data analytics, production support, development, and project delivery.

Ensure organizational practices and procedures are consistently aligned with CMS/Medicare policies, maintaining compliance and supporting regulatory readiness.

Actively participate in strategic planning, continuous improvement initiatives and innovation efforts as part of the CGS Executive Leadership Team.

Contribute to the development and execution of long-term strategies that support business growth and transformation.

Drive operational enhancements and process efficiencies, identifying innovative solutions that improve service delivery and overall organizational performance.

Oversee contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual standards, budget goals, cost containment, and revenue objectives.

Foster strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams, external partners, and business units to support seamless operations and strategic alignment.

Direct, motivate, and develop staff across cross-functional team environments, promoting a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.

Qualifications To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need the Following:

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree

Required Experience:

10+ years of work-related experience.

5 years management experience OR equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above (may be concurrent with the ten plus years).

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong leadership skills

Advanced decision-making and problem-solving abilities

Highly effective presentation skills

Ability to effectively manage performance

Budget planning, preparation, and monitoring

Proficiency in mathematical calculations and performance metrics

Ability to analyze data for staffing, budgeting, and operational decisions

Familiarity with current health care delivery systems

Advanced knowledge of responding to Requests For Proposal (RFP) for business development

Working knowledge of Information Systems processes for operational and strategic problem-solving

Preferred

Medicare and Medicare Systems knowledge is strongly preferred

Strong leadership in cross-functional and remote team settings

Information Technology degree strongly preferred
