Position Overview The General Manager is responsible for leading through Petco’s vision of "Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World." to develop a high-performing team that delivers top-line sales growth while maintaining care for all animals. The GM leads a team of Pet Care Center managers, leaders and partners and is accountable for all aspects of managing a single Pet Care Center. The General Manager focuses on people (talent acquisition, training, and development), performance (guest service, sales, and expense control), and process (standard operating procedures and policies) to achieve profitability. A passion for pets, ability to inspire and lead a team, focus on process excellence, and drive for results are required. Position Responsibilities

Build a team that embodies the Petco brand by delivering exceptional service and driving guest loyalty. Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent. Train, coach, and develop leaders and hourly partners in all areas required to run the store efficiently and to Petco standards, including effective rollout selling models. Create a professional environment that grows and engages partners. Lead a culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration; set priorities and provide clear direction. Ensure quick and courteous service by helping partners determine guest needs and sharing product knowledge to suggest appropriate solutions. Responsible for partner performance management in the Pet Care Center. Demonstrate and support a continuous improvement and growth mindset. Performance
Meet or exceed goals related to Pet Care Center sales, profitability, and operational excellence. Schedule and adjust labor hours and payroll to maximize productivity and meet goals. Review financial and operational reporting regularly, including visits and audit results. Identify underperforming metrics and develop strategies using Petco programs and resources to improve and grow the business. Market the Pet Care Center and oversee on-site and community events such as adoptions, school visits and local promotions. Process
Ensure proper health, appearance, welfare, and handling of all animals. Ensure merchandise is properly priced, displayed and stocked; make merchandising decisions aligned with visuals, ad setups and monthly plans. Complete accounting, inventory management and payroll paperwork timely; keep expenses within budget. Maintain the Pet Care Center’s appearance and safety procedures per standards. Protect pets and merchandise and minimize loss by meeting standards, safety, inventory control and loss prevention. Open/close the Pet Care Center per policies and safety procedures. Maintain professional image, appearance, and cleanliness. Other Essential Duties

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; proficiency in basic business acumen, analysis, problem-solving, people development and guest service. Excellent communication and computer skills. Three+ years of management experience required; previous retail management preferred. Strong organizational skills and general business knowledge; customer service orientation and passion for animals. Must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle. Completion of PETCO Management Achievement Program modules may be required for internal candidates. Supervisory Responsibility
The General Manager directly supervises a team of leaders and all Pet Care Center partners including services. Work Environment
Most duties are indoors. Some movement of merchandise may require lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods. Occasional travel may be required. Contacts
Continuous contact with the public and regular contact with other departments, distribution centers, and support centers.
