Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with specific and detailed instructions, the Pharmacy Specialist will assist in the packaging, manufacturing, distribution of drugs and supplies.
Perform various nonjudgmental functions in all areas of the department including ambulatory and inpatient drug distribution, sterile product preparation of hazardous, non-hazardous, and biological agents, manufacturing and packaging as well as provision of ambulatory services.
Responsible for the procurement of inventory and inventory control.
Performs other related duties and utilizes automated and computerized technology as required.
Additional Requirements:
Requirement to work alternate weekends a MUST.
Compliance:
Must pass the USP 797 sterile compounding testing prior to the completion of probation.
Requirements/Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent Required
Active Certified Technician Registration (CPhT) Required
Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent on the job training
Experience compounding intravenous sterile products including chemotherapy and other hazardous biological products, knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800, pharmaceuticals and inventory control practice and procedures
Excellent communications, customer service and business interpersonal skills
PC, windows and other business or pharmacy computer system literacy
