Project Coordinator II
for the Indigenous Cancer Health Excellence Initiative (ICHE-i) to coordinate administrative, research, and programmatic tasks in support of ICHE-i’s programmatic objectives and the U19 CANOE Partnership aims. The role is based in Seattle with field offices in Sunnyside and Spokane and requires experience working with Tribes and/or urban Indian communities, tribal governance, and community norms. The Project Coordinator II supports ICHE-i by leading coordination of complex projects, managing multiple community partnerships, and ensuring accountability for deliverables across initiatives. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring project timelines, coordinating communications, leading event planning, and supporting research and community-based projects. The position emphasizes bidirectional community engagement and collaborations with tribal partners to address cancer health disparities. Scope of Responsibilities:
Reports to the ICHE-i Project Manager. Works with minimal supervision to facilitate and coordinate interactions with individuals and groups to support ICHE-i outreach within the Washington State catchment area. Supports outreach implementation plans, monitors progress, communicates roadblocks, assists in developing solutions, and performs daily operational work to achieve project goals. Contributes to ongoing improvement of ICHE-i systems and processes; strengthens long-term capacity to engage with Tribal partners and advance cancer health disparities efforts. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to produce high-quality work within a collaborative team. Essential Duties Project Coordination (45%): Facilitate communications with the ICHE-i team; liaison to Fred Hutch departments, external vendors, Cancer Consortium departments, and outside collaborators. Support development, facilitation, and maintenance of ICHE-i partnerships with academic, research, Tribal, and urban Indian communities. Manage project databases and upgrade systems to support tracking and reporting. Lead coordination of ICHE-i projects, community events, and outreach activities, ensuring alignment with timelines, deliverables, and grant requirements. Collaborate with the Project Manager to implement workflows and SOPs to increase efficiency across ICHE-i, OCOE, and U19 CANOE grant requirements. Administrative Support (35%): Oversee coordination of ICHE-i, OCOE, and U19 CANOE Partnership meetings; ensure agendas, documentation, and follow-up activities are completed timely. Manage information flow across leadership, internal partners, and community partners to maintain accountability and alignment with goals. Arrange meetings with multiple community partners and institutional collaborators; monitor event expenses in line with budgets and regulations. Support project execution by tracking operational needs, flagging issues, and preparing internal reports to support ICHE-i operations and grant deliverables. Community Engagement (15%): Coordinate bidirectional communication and engagement with Tribes and urban Indian communities; develop and implement a digital engagement strategy (web, social media, newsletters). Collaborate with CHE III on community outreach and engagement activities; participate in events to foster trusted relationships. Develop and disseminate culturally informed outreach, education, and research materials. Research Project Support (5%): Assist with developing/reviewing research materials (protocols, consent forms, questionnaires, interview scripts, data instruments, educational materials). Coordinate participant engagement and incentive distribution in line with protocols and community values; document community-based participatory research activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of three years post-master’s or five years post-bachelor’s project coordination experience in a research setting. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of four years relevant project coordination experience (or Master’s degree plus two years). Valid WA State driver’s license. Experience coordinating projects involving tribal governments, tribal organizations, or urban Indian communities. Experience managing multiple projects from inception to completion. Strong human relations, facilitation, and influencing skills; ability to work with diverse groups. Experience building partnerships to address cancer health disparities; attention to detail and time management. Excellent organizational and written communication skills; ability to draft reports and professional correspondence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience in public health, community health, and health disparities research. Familiarity with Indigenous community-based evaluation methods and health communication strategies; experience in academic or scientific research environments; knowledge of IRB/Human Subjects Research and Community Based Participatory Research principles. Skills in database creation/management; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, REDCap, AirTable, Salesforce. Hourly pay range: $34.40–$51.60. Pay offered based on experience and qualifications.
