Where we Work Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Turkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the Austin office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About this role Udemy is searching for a Senior Software Engineer who embodies ownership, teamwork, relentless focus, and a never-stop-learning attitude. Proficiency in Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis/Elasticache, GraphQL, Datadog, Kubernetes, Terraform is expected. The ideal candidate will be comfortable addressing moderately complex problems, including navigating projects with ambiguous parameters.

As part of the Learner team, you will scale the services that power our learning experiences and be directly responsible for building service capabilities that help learners identify and build new skills.

What you'll be doing

Implementing product features using Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis/Elasticache, GraphQL, Datadog, Kubernetes, Terraform to meet team objectives.

Building services that adhere to high scalability and quality standards.

Applying analytical problem solving, cross-functional communication, and systems thinking to ensure smooth execution of product features.

Leading the optimization of code, performance, and processes to help the team achieve goals.

Leading, coordinating, executing, and delivering moderately complex projects at scale and quality.

Managing complexity within the team while interacting with adjacent-domain teams.

What you'll have

Demonstrated that you never stop learning.

Technical competence in Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis/Elasticache, GraphQL, Datadog, Kubernetes, Terraform.

Solid understanding of accessibility standards and leveraging design systems.

Working knowledge of analytical problem solving, cross-functional communication, and systems thinking.

Ability to break moderately complex problems and projects into deliverable milestones.

Hiring Compensation Range $130,000 — $162,000 USD
