Staff Infrastructure Engineer

Remote Location: Boston, MA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco Bay Area; Austin, TX; or Washington, DC Position Summary: As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will work with your team on various challenging projects and build the infrastructure for our platform and the thousands of companies that trust HackerOne with their cybersecurity posture. You are a collaborative and effective Infrastructure Engineer leader and team member. You combine broad technological expertise, deep domain knowledge, and an unquestionable dedication to security as you intersect with the engineering organization. You seek leadership responsibilities, identify and spearhead new initiatives, and make systematic improvements to technical weaknesses you find in your squad’s codebases and shared codebases across the company. You understand what it takes to build highly available, performant, and durable cloud architecture. You work cross-functionally, earning buy-in from stakeholders across the organization with a service mentality. Work Approach: HackerOne embraces a Flexible Work approach; this is a remote role targeted for candidates within ~50 miles of the listed cities. Your first 30 days: get to know HackerOnies, join your squad, and be onboarded to engineering; learn the technology stack (AWS, Terraform, Ruby on Rails + GraphQL + more). By day 60: be eased into on-call rotations, lead a meaningful project, and connect within the organization. Beyond 90 days: become a full-fledged Infrastructure Engineer, understand business value of products and features, translate requests into robust engineering solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, execution, and alignment across multiple domains. Contribute to a positive team culture with fellow Infrastructure Engineers across the US and Europe. Take ownership of personal growth and professional development. Apply technical skills in a people-focused environment, building scalable solutions while fostering strong team relationships. Participate in an on-call rotation (one week every four weeks) as the primary point of contact for on-call requests and system reliability. Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of engineering experience with Linux, Amazon Web Services, Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog, Cloudflare, OpenSearch. Willingness to participate in on-call rotation on a 9:00-21:00 PT / 12:00-12:00 ET schedule once every four weeks; Sunday to Monday shift. Experience with modern DevOps toolchains and pipelines. Strong track record of shipping projects quickly with multiple dependencies across technical and non-technical teams. Expert-level Site Reliability Engineering experience. Strong interest in secure software patterns and best practices, ideally with InfraSec principles. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or GitHub Actions) and pipeline optimization. Experience with emerging AI technologies (model deployment, data compliance). Familiarity with FedRAMP, SOC2, ISO27001; secure-by-default infrastructure design. Compensation

San Francisco: $188K – $235K; Offers Equity Seattle, Austin, DC, Boston: $170K – $211K; Offers Equity Job Benefits
