CareerSource Palm Beach County is in search of a Director of Finance. Our organization is a public workforce development agency that connects job seekers with employment, training, and career support services while helping businesses find and develop qualified talent. This is a key role providing senior level management for a staff of professional specialists and technicians in the Fiscal Unit, offering overall team direction and independent leadership to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Base pay range

$110,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr Major responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day financial and accounting tasks, including senior management for fiscal staff conducting accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and fiscal grant reporting functions. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with standards and federal, state, and grant-based regulatory requirements; maintain systems and procedures to support fiscal implementation, monitoring, and audits. Oversee monitoring and auditing of subcontractor financial systems. Maintain internal controls and safeguards for revenue, costs, program budgets, obligations, and expenditures; ensure sound systems for fiscal grant management tracking. Prepare reports of the organization’s financial performance for multiple funders and stakeholders (monthly for grants, etc.). Provide continuous improvement of financial processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Financial strategy and coordination

Set budgets and work with the management team to ensure revenue and expenditures meet targets and programmatic needs. Analyze financial data and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financials; keep leadership informed of the organization’s financial status. Develop and implement strategies to assess, manage, and minimize financial risks; develop and enforce policies to minimize risk and ensure accurate reporting of financial position. Present to the Board of Directors and support the board’s Budget committee. Provide guidance on financial decisions and planning to the Executive Director, Board, and Leadership Team. Collaborate with managers and directors to align finance, HR, and programmatic functions. Lead internal communications and promote a positive, supportive work environment. Knowledge

Knowledge of federal funding streams and grant accounting, reporting, and procurement; (Office of Management and Budget requirements preferred). Ability to understand the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) fiscal and procurement requirements and other workforce development grants. Principles and practices of nonprofit and government grant accounting. Accounting, fiscal data analysis, risk management, and forecasting practices. Project management, leadership, and supervision principles and techniques. Program budgeting knowledge; familiarity with accounting and financial management software and the ability to implement new systems. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; five to ten years of accounting/financial experience; three to seven years of financial leadership experience. Experience in financial management and accounting with multiple funding streams; experience with public accounting and/or nonprofits, ideally including MIP and government funding. Alternative qualifications: substitution of education with additional qualifying experience; a Master’s degree or CPA licensure may substitute for one year of experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced Excel; ability to learn state workforce development systems/databases; strong written communication for significant report writing. Seniority level
