Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Medical Surgical Nursing Unit, the Lead Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in ensuring high quality patient care within the acute care setting. This position provides direct patient care and serves as a resource for PCTs and nursing staff. The lead PCT supports a unit with medically complex patients, including those requiring telemetry monitoring, EKGs, Falls precautions and Pressure Injury prevention. This individual will also take a leadership role in optimizing workflows, ensuring best practices in patient care, be an active member of the UBC and foster teamwork across the unit. All Lead PCT responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the MS Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care as part of the care team.
Serve as a resource for PCTs and nursing staff.
Lead on optimizing workflows and promoting best practices in patient care.
Be an active member of the UBC and foster teamwork across the unit.
Operate under the supervision of the Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
– High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
– 3 years of acute care hospital experience preferred.
L icensure and/or Certification
– BLS healthcare provider required.
Skills
– Ability to take vitals; strong communication and interpersonal skills; computer skills; ability to read, write, and communicate in English; ability to maintain confidential information.
