Evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with blood disorders and various cancers, including administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and other treatment modalities. Provide comprehensive care to patients, including developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, managing side effects, and coordinating care with other specialists. Consult with other physicians and members of the healthcare team on complex hematological and oncological cases. Provide patient education about diagnoses, treatment options and disease management, to support informed decision-making. Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed and provide ongoing support. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Skills
Strong understanding of Hem/Onc principles, treatments and procedures. Excellent clinical judgment and the ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations. Ability to effectively communicate complex information to patients, families and healthcare teams. Expertise in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests. Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams. Minimum Education Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school. Residency in internal medicine (ACGME) or (AOA). Fellowship in Hem/Onc. License & Certifications
Board certification in hematology and/or oncology by ABIM or AOBIM. Active and unrestricted medical license in Rhode Island. Experience
Most locum Hem/Onc positions prefer candidates with at least one year of clinical experience. Additional Notes
