Overview Boston West Veterinary Emergency and Specialty is seeking a Criticalist to join our 24/7 Emergency and Specialty referral hospital in Natick, MA. We are looking for a talented, energetic, personable individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills who will be a contributing member of our veterinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in helping to develop a Critical Care service to support our emergency department and collaborate with surgery and internal medicine.

About the Hospital Boston West is an established 10,000-square foot open concept facility equipped with digital radiology, CT and ultrasound, and serves a large and busy group of referring veterinary practices. The hospital includes 2 surgical suites for orthopedic surgeries, soft tissue surgeries, minimally invasive procedures, emergency surgeries, and arthroscopic procedures. We perform advanced orthopedic procedures such as total hip replacements and joint resurfacing.

In addition to Emergency, we currently have specialists in Internal Medicine and Surgery available Monday through Friday. The hospital design supports collaboration, with a multi-specialty DVM office and an open floorplan that encourages daily interaction among services.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead the Critical Care service to support the emergency department.

Collaborate with Surgery and Internal Medicine teams to coordinate patient care.

Provide high-quality critical care, with clear communication to clients and referring veterinarians.

Contribute to a culture of teamwork, education, and continuous improvement within the hospital.

Schedule & Lifestyle Our Critical Care doctors enjoy a balanced and flexible schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week and no overnight responsibilities.

Compensation & Benefits With this position, you’ll find a competitive benefits package including 401(k) match, CE, Health and Dental, Life, Disability, and Professional Liability Insurance. The base compensation for critical care ranges from $210,000 to $250,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
