On September 7th, 1954, Bishop Gorman opened its doors as the only Catholic high school in Southern Nevada. With 70 years of tradition, the school maintains its values and educational mission, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds into a quality, Catholic, college-preparatory education. Foundational Documents Mission Statement: to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, prepare students for higher education and create a community where service is valued and celebrated Vision Statement: to be a national leader in college preparatory education, in an environment distinguished by Catholic values Values Statement (Integral Student Outcomes): A Bishop Gorman graduate is formed as a disciple of Jesus Christ and possesses attributes of the values: Relationship with God; Acceptance of Accountability; Commitment to Excellence; Cultivation of Leadership; Practice of Stewardship Faith Formation The office of Campus Ministry offers opportunities for student and faculty involvement in retreats, service, worship, and community events. Students are required to take a Theology course each semester and perform service hours each year and reflect on their experiences. Academics The curriculum offers a wide range of challenging courses including Advanced Placement and honors classes. Bishop Gorman is a college-preparatory school with approximately 1,500 students and a high college-bound rate. Last year, graduates received significant scholarships and attended prestigious colleges. The school emphasizes academic rigor in a faith-based environment. Athletics and Extracurricular Activities The school has a rich tradition of athletic excellence with numerous championships and a variety of clubs and activities. The Bishop Gorman Thespians have earned state and national recognition. Campus Facilities The campus relocated in 2007 to 52 acres in Summerlin. It features multiple facilities including lecture halls, an athletic center, chapel, student union, gyms, fields, arts complex, laboratories, and learning centers. Position Description The President is retiring after 15 years of leadership. Bishop Gorman seeks a qualified leader to direct spiritual, academic, and financial efforts, guiding the school’s mission of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and service. The President directs the following disciplines: Faith Formation Academics Communication Advancement Leadership Financial Facilities The President has ultimate responsibility for all operations. Direct reports include: Principal; Athletic Director; Finance Director; Advancement Director; Facilities Director. The President reports to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools and consults with Archdiocese stakeholders and the Advisory Council. Requirements Successful candidates must meet the following criteria: Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church with a strong commitment to and working knowledge of the Catholic faith Passion for Catholic education and holistic student formation Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Education, Business, Leadership, or related field preferred Significant leadership experience in Catholic education, nonprofit management, or executive administration Demonstrated success in fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to implement policies and initiatives Strong understanding of Catholic school governance and Archdiocesan structures and policies Why consider the opportunity?
