What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Mobile Food Pantry Program Manager to oversee the launch, coordination, and management of all aspects of the SJCS Mobile Food Pantry program. This role ensures the timely delivery of nutritious food to food desert communities, manages partnerships and volunteers, maintains compliance with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) and licensing requirements, and drives program growth through donor engagement, reporting, and strategic planning. The Mobile Food Pantry Program Manager plays a critical role in combating food insecurity, expanding SJCS’s reach into underserved communities, and ensuring individuals and families have consistent access to fresh, healthy food. Your overall essential responsibilities
Program Development & Launch Develop and submit a Food Pantry Program Design, including goals, operational structure, volunteer engagement strategy, and compliance considerations. Conduct research to identify food desert areas and prioritize service locations using data-driven justification. Create and refine operational plans for food delivery, transportation logistics, volunteer coordination, and staffing needs. Establish and manage a launch timeline, including milestone tracking, program growth targets, and community impact reporting. Daily Operations Oversee and coordinate mobile food pantry activities, ensuring smooth logistics and food safety. Manage food intake, donations, inventory, and distribution through Saltbox and partner systems. Respond promptly to donor, partner, and volunteer communications. Ensure daily compliance with CAFB requirements and organizational standards. Resolve on-site operational issues during distribution events. Weekly Duties Prepare and submit weekly operational and donor engagement reports; adjust frequency as program stabilizes. Maintain and grow donor and partner relationships through timely follow-ups. Attend or participate in food insecurity coalition and community meetings. Coordinate logistics for food pick-up, delivery, and volunteer scheduling. Monitor progress on program goals and share updates with leadership. Assess inventory and request additional supplies as needed. Visit pop-up distribution sites to ensure service quality and standards. Monthly Duties Report Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) numbers and volunteer hours to leadership and Finance. Review and ensure ongoing compliance with CAFB and state licensing regulations. Evaluate recent distribution events, identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Research and identify grant, RFP, and funding opportunities in collaboration with development staff. Develop new outreach strategies to expand community partners, donors, and volunteer base. Plan upcoming mobile pantry schedules aligned with community needs and organizational resources. Participate in strategic planning meetings with leadership to align pantry operations with SJCS goals.
