Principal Supplier Engineer
who will be involved in all aspects of planning and executing the production of our wide range of weapon systems, from tactical missiles to strategic defense products. This role provides technical knowledge & process capability expertise to improve supplier performance. You will be involved in all phases of product life cycles, beginning with proposal development, new product development, advanced manufacturing initiatives and continuing through production implementation. You will ensure technical data packages are complete and accurate and that the suppliers’ technical performance meets the objectives of quality, cost, and schedule. You will drive Raytheon design requirements to improve the manufacturing and quality capabilities of suppliers. You will initiate continuous and measurable design and process improvement of supplier hardware for affordability. This Principal Supplier Engineer
will join our Guidance & Navigation group. This is a remote opportunity with 35-50% domestic travel.
What You Will Do
Communicate and translate technical data packages to suppliers Conduct supplier engagements related to capability, capacity, opportunity and risk Perform technical evaluations in support of cost and price analysis Manage supplier requests for product and process changes Manage non-conforming products Drive root cause and corrective action Prioritize and execute improvement opportunities Communicate the technical health of our suppliers to stakeholders Support domestic travel as needed (Approx 35 - 50%)
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience Relevant experience is working in at least one of the following: mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality systems and/or technical supplier management Continuous Improvement experience (Six Sigma, Lean practices, Kaizen, Value Stream, Agile, etc.) The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Manufacturing Engineering in a manufacturing / factory environment is strongly preferred Active DoD clearance Experience with any of the following commodities: Guidance & Navigation, IMU, Gyroscopes, Control Actuation Systems, Electronics, Mechanical Experience influencing and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders Experience in performing supplier assessments Experience working with multiple suppliers/vendors at the same time Strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated planning and follow through experience (able to create roadmap linking metrics to actions and generating implementation plans)
