Overview
Assistant or Associate Professor, Non-Malignant Hematology, on the Clinician Scholar pathway. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch (primary appointment) and the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Medicine at UW (joint appointment). Specific rank at UW will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as described in UW's Faculty Code. UW Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments aligned with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30). Faculty with a 12-month service period are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period, meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2026. Responsibilities and clinical duties
The selected individual is expected to contribute to delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research in non-malignant hematology. The non-malignant hematology group is committed to providing outstanding patient care, and members of the non-malignant hematology disease program will participate in the clinical and research mission of the program. There is opportunity to conduct clinical research with existing comprehensive clinical databases and ongoing prospective studies. The candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop their own clinical research programs. Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Teaching responsibilities will involve oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows during inpatient and outpatient rotations, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community. Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. Fred Hutch has a track record of leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, and operates eight clinical care sites with network affiliations in five states. Our teams seek to discover new cures to the world's deadliest diseases and to make life beyond cancer a reality. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary interest in hematology-oncology, focusing on non-malignant hematologic disorders (especially coagulation and cellular hematology) and an active clinical research interest demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in the diagnosis and treatment of non-malignant hematology. Applicants must have an MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent), board certification in Hematology, Medical Oncology or Hematology/Oncology (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
