Position Summary
The Director of Development & Marketing is a senior leadership position responsible for the organization’s fundraising, donor engagement, and marketing strategy. This role ensures LifeSmart Youth's financial sustainability and public visibility by developing and executing comprehensive development and communication plans. The Development Director will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and external partners to advance LifeSmart Youth’s mission. Responsibilities
Develop and lead an annual Fund Development Plan to drive diversified revenue (grants, individual giving, corporate sponsorships). Manage relationships with grant writers/contractors and align proposals with organizational goals. Lead the execution of fundraising events and donor campaigns in collaboration with the CEO and Board of Directors. Strengthen relationships with existing donors and funders while cultivating new support. Ensure stewardship and acknowledgment practices are timely and meaningful. Monitor fundraising performance and ensure revenue targets are met or exceeded. Oversee donor database (Salesforce), sponsor recognition, and donor recordkeeping. Coordinate the Development & Marketing Committee and support Board development efforts. Promote a supportive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture. Marketing & Communications
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Marketing Plan. Supervise creation and publication of TrustED Adults tips and e-newsletters. Collaborate with marketing firms and internal teams to develop campaigns and events. Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and audience segments. Support brand awareness and clearly communicate LifeSmart Youth’s mission to the public and stakeholders. Manage and oversee social media content and online presence related to fundraising and public engagement. Serve as staff liaison to the Development & Marketing Committee. Coordinate internal systems and processes for donor tracking and communication. Support LifeSmart Youth’s strategic planning, mission, and values across all development activities. Note: The role supports a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Fundraising, Communications, or related field required. Master’s degree or fundraising certification (CFRE) preferred. Minimum 5 years of relevant development and marketing experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Proven track record in fundraising strategy, donor stewardship, and grant management. Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills. Strong cultural competency and a commitment to inclusive communication. Experience with CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Strategic thinker with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Must pass applicable background checks. Seniority level
