Principal Consultant, Climate Change and Air Quality
to join our consulting team in
Charleston, WV . The successful candidate will work on a variety of technical projects for clients in the oil & gas, power, technology, and chemical sectors throughout the State and across North America. Our global CS&CC practice provides advisory services from Board engagement to operationalizing sustainability and climate change strategy across our client’s business. ERM’s Air Quality technical community pursues and wins engagements for the most interesting clients, providing the full breadth of air quality and climate change services. Responsibilities
Conduct air quality analyses, assess regulatory compliance, and perform regulatory applicability evaluations. Build and execute Scope 1, 2 and 3 Greenhouse Gas Inventories for clients with complex, global operations. Develop complete and accurate air quality permits for Title V, Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), and New Source Review compliance. Interact with local regulators to steward permit application review and issuance. Advise clients on potential methane and carbon reduction opportunities through the promoted use of emerging technologies, best management practices, or energy reduction practices. Prepare emission inventory reports; quantify air pollutant emissions and impacts. Evaluate air pollution control technologies, including technical and economic feasibility of air pollution control equipment. Perform multiple tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables. Interact and maintain successful relationships with clients, ERM employees, and subcontractors. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemical or environmental engineering or a Bachelor’s degree in environmental or related sciences; Master’s degree preferred but not mandatory, or equivalent experience. 6+ years of experience required (15+ years preferred) of direct consulting or industry experience involving environmental permitting and compliance. Experience with air quality construction permits and Title V permitting; PSD, NSR, BACT, and/or MACT experience a plus. Demonstrated understanding of air emissions and emission reporting processes. Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. Who We Are
