Overview We are currently seeking qualified applicants to fill one (1) Accounting Technician vacancy in the Finance Department. You would contribute to the organization by supporting the payroll team, supporting system improvement efforts, providing experience in reporting to government organizations at the Federal and State levels, providing support with the automated financial systems and more. You may also perform duties in accounts payable, utility billing, accounts receivable, or benefits administration support, performing routine to difficult work processing requests and other municipal transactions. This opportunity will support our staff and display your math/accounting/bookkeeping skills, attention to detail, organization and use of tact.

The Finance Department consists of 26 full-time employees and an annual department budget of $7.2 million, for FY25/26. The department is composed of the Administration, Accounting and Auditing, Revenue, and Budget divisions. It is responsible for safeguarding public financial resources, providing the City Council with thoughtful policy analysis and development of financially sound funding options, developing the City budget, utility billing, overseeing purchasing activities, and assisting city departments to implement their programs through budget development and management, and reporting the city’s financial activity in a clear and understandable manner to the organization and the community.

Responsibilities and Qualifications Responsibilities

Assist in accounts payable, utility billing, accounts receivable, or benefits administration support; process routine to complex requests and other municipal transactions.

Additional notes: This recruitment is to fill one full-time vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies during the active employment list. The active status will be at least 6 months unless changed per Civil Service Rules.

Selection Process Selection is conducted under merit-based Civil Service rules with broad outreach and equal opportunity. The following steps may be used at various stages: online assessment, written examination, job-related exercise, phone interview, and panel interview. Some steps may be pass/fail or percentage-based scoring. The final phase of the selection process is the Probationary Period, typically six (6) months, and may be twelve (12) months depending on the classification. If three or fewer candidates are available, testing procedures may be waived.
