Overview
SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.
Compensation We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $17.95 to $19.00 and is commensurate with experience.
Position The Monitor will provide monitoring and security for the housing facility and its residents, both during the day and overnight, as scheduled.
The position is located at Kuehner House on Good Hope Road in SE Washington, DC. Kuehner House is an affordable housing program designed specifically for the elderly, including emergency housing for abused and neglected elderly and a community day center.
Schedule Week 1: Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm; Week 2: Friday 4:00 pm – 7:00 am and Sunday 4:00 pm – 8:00 am (48 hours bi-weekly).
Requirements Required:
1-3 years of experience in social services and experience providing services to seniors.
Required License/Certification:
CPR/First Aid; DC Food Handlers Certification
Responsibilities
Oversee house operations and respond to client issues at night or during the day based on schedule
Conduct regular house walk-throughs and submit shift logs at the end of each shift
Perform drug tests, as needed
Respond to emergencies and contact management as needed, develop serious incident reports when needed
Monitor and document client medications
Perform cleaning duties
Assist in meal preparation
Enforce the policies of the program

Position Designation This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during employment. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.
Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. May be required to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to move around all levels/floors of the building.
