Location & Travel Details:
This position can be located in any of our office locations: 4850 32nd Ave S, Fargo, ND 58104; 10401 N Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46290; 7878 N 16th St, Phoenix, AZ 85020. The role is open to possible remote options, but preference will be given to candidates who can work in an office setting. Must be able to work within regular business hours Monday-Friday between 7am-6pm in the applicable time zone. Lead, promote and comply with safety policies and procedures and protect people and property. Focus on quality and doing things right the first time. Attract and retain top engineering talent and promote the department. Ensure accurate and timely reporting within the department and to internal/external clients. Oversee department budget management and adherence to the business plan. Foster an ethical, trust-based, positive team atmosphere. Promote clear, constructive communications. Maximize department profit across the market sector by aligning teams and resources. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the market sector’s engineering function and performance, including in-house design, third-party engineering management, and field support for projects. Provide senior leadership to achieve the department’s goals and mentor team members to build a cohesive leadership team. Continuously improve department structure and plans to enhance efficiency and individual growth where possible. Support the Senior Vice President in long-range planning and tactical evaluation of market sector impacts. Develop and enforce policies and procedures to improve operations across operating entities in the market sector. Establish credibility as a problem-solver and solutions developer within the market sector. Provide technical and professional guidance to department areas and the market sector. Oversee development and implementation of key initiatives and SOPs, driving them to closure. Improve budgeting processes through education on budgetary issues affecting departmental performance. Qualifications
Work Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. 12-15 years of relevant experience in engineering, construction, and project management. Experience in a senior leadership role in engineering or construction. Active professional engineering license preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Commit to health and safety, pursuing Zero Injury principles. Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage multiple projects, make decisions, and solve problems under pressure. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills. Clear and professional communication at all levels. Provide leadership through coaching and team development. Interpret technical documents, contracts, regulations, and professional publications. Prepare reports and project documentation; maintain licenses and certifications. Think strategically with data-driven decision making. Thrive in fast-paced environments, meeting deadlines and managing priorities. Work independently and collaboratively as a leader and team member. Apply financial and project management knowledge, including budgeting and cost control. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%. Work Environment On job sites, expect exposure to hazards and follow safety precautions. Moderate exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and noise.
