Primary purpose Primary Purpose Of Position
The Associate Analyst, Credit Risk is responsible for assessing and analyzing credit risk associated with the wholesale power and gas activities (trading and origination) as well as retail power and gas credit issues for the retail supply business. This role may also be responsible for a credit portfolio within designated regions. The position requires understanding of the physical and financial products offered by the Company and interaction with business and functional partners.
Primary duties and responsibilities
Assess and analyze the credit worthiness of customers and trading counterparties, and monitor current and potential exposures. Provide analytical support to senior credit team members managing relationships with assigned counterparties, Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), and Gas Pipelines. (40%)
Recommend credit terms and conditions within customer and wholesale commodity contracts. (10%)
Coordinate with the margining and treasury teams on counterpart collateral including cash, letters of credit and parental guarantees. Coordinate with Receivables team to monitor aged receivables for timely collection. (15%)
Assist with presentations to Senior Management that include credit decisions and recommendations, highlighting top credit risks. (20%)
Assist in the coordination, maintenance, and implementation of improved reporting and functionality of Credit Risk systems. (15%)
Job scope
The Associate Analyst, Credit Risk has some credit authority to approve credit requests in their assigned region.
Support Credit leadership in managing counterparty/customer limits and exposure monitoring to maintain compliance with credit policy and counterparty credit terms (including margining requirements).
Support senior credit personnel as they negotiate terms, participate in conference calls to assess counterparty credit worthiness, and perform customer visits.
Provide credit workout with early warning of potential high-risk counterparties and assist in risk mitigation activities.
Maintain risk data system and reporting integrity; ensure accuracy of external and internal reporting and disclosures.
Rigorously follow the credit process in all transactions.
Minimum education and qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in BS in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
0-2 years of relevant experience.
General understanding of financial and energy trading markets.
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle multiple duties.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with commercial and functional partners, external counterparties, vendors, and senior level executives within Risk and Finance.
Self-motivated with strong time management and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced energy commodity trading environment.
Strong computer and spreadsheet modeling skills.
Preferred qualifications None beyond listed minimum qualifications.

Annual salary range: $59,200 – $81,400; Salary range listed elsewhere as $45,000 – $60,000 for some postings.
