Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Design Engineering Manager to lead the design and engineering efforts for the large-scale deployment of Rondo Heat Batteries worldwide. You will oversee multidisciplinary infrastructure projects and guide a team of engineers and architects across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and supply chain disciplines. You will align design strategies with RHB product requirements, ensuring integration between engineering, procurement, and construction. Your leadership will shape systems that replace fossil-fired boilers and accelerate industrial decarbonization globally. What You Will Do
Collaborate closely across engineering, procurement and delivery departments to align design concepts with project specifications, cost constraints, and client requirements
Lead a multidisciplinary design team comprised of architects, engineers, and drafters, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to achieve project objectives
Maintain high standards of design quality, reviewing and approving design concepts, drawings, and specifications
Oversee the design phase of projects, ensuring designs are compliant with industry standards, regulations, and client expectations
Develop and refine
design requirements that align with product team needs , enabling scalable deployment of RHBs
Involve themselves to solve complex technical challenges as needed
Integrate innovative technologies and sustainable practices into the design process to enhance project efficiency and performance
Allocate design resources effectively, balancing workload distribution and optimizing resource utilization
Highlight gaps and constraints across various stages of projects
Identify opportunities for skill development and training to enhance the capabilities of the design team
Identify and mitigate design-related risks, anticipating potential challenges and providing proactive solutions to ensure project success and client satisfaction
Coordinate key project schedule requirements with Procurement and Construction partners for overall project success
What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Civil, or Chemical Engineering — or equivalent work experience
10 years of progressive experience in multi-disciplinary design management
Strong understanding of engineering disciplines, construction methodologies, and project management practices
Proficiency in relevant design software and tools (SolidWorks; AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks would be a plus)
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Proven track record of managing complex design / engineering projects from conception to completion

This role is on-site, and necessitates being on-site at our Alameda HQ 4-5 days per week. The estimated annual salary range for this role is $180,000 to $210,000 and it would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity. Please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidates' diverse sets of skill levels and experience.
