Overview Hoag Health System is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide high quality advanced nursing care within the scope of the nurse practitioner license. This role involves multidisciplinary patient evaluations and assessments, patient education, interventions, and documenting the plan of care. The NP may work as an independent provider and/or under indirect supervision of a supervising physician and may treat a variety of age populations.

Responsibilities

Provide high quality advanced nursing care in accordance with professional regulatory standards and NP scope of practice.

Conduct patient evaluations and assessments, provide patient education, and document the plan of care.

Request physician consultations and multidisciplinary consults as needed.

Work under independent provision or indirect supervision of a supervising physician.

Possibly participate in admission/transfer processes, exams, history and physicals, rounding, progress notes, discharge summaries, and related activities.

Furnish non-narcotic medications and durable medical equipment (DME); manage controlled substances with appropriate licensure/certification; order and interpret labs, imaging, and other studies; administer IV therapies and adjust dosing as appropriate.

May be required to work different hours, weekends, holidays, and on-call time depending on area.

Qualifications Education and Experience

Master’s in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) required.

Completion of proctoring by Medical Staff Office.

Advanced clinical knowledge in care and management of patients.

Cardiac Admin: experience in adult/geriatric cardiovascular care; cardiovascular data collection experience preferred.

Palliative Care: 2 years’ advanced practice nursing experience, including prescribing, in relevant area; adult/geriatric care and palliative care assessment skills preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in California.

Furnishing license issued by the State of California and personal DEA number (for all areas other than Breast Center).

BLS required.

National board certification as Nurse Practitioner in area of specialty required (except Outpatient Oncology).

Heart Valve Clinic: ACLS required.
