Overview
The Capital Projects Director is responsible for all capital project execution at the mine and processing facility. They will lead a team of project managers and other support roles to ensure safe and efficient project execution, meeting the business budget and schedule requirements. Relocation is offered.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of 10+ capital project professionals across multiple disciplines.
Drive continuous improvement on standardizing processes for project planning, scoping, engineering design, procurement, construction, quality control, execution, cost control, and project turnover.
Oversee the full lifecycle of capital projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Interface regularly with operations and maintenance teams to ensure project integration within operational facilities.
Ensure all projects are executed with minimal disruption to ongoing operations and in compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
Deliver weekly project meeting updates, and provide monthly project performance reports and strategic updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Drive risk management strategies and contingency planning across all phases of project execution.
Champion the use of project management tools, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor progress, cost, and schedule adherence.
Mentor and develop internal and new talent, building a strong succession pipeline within the capital projects organization.
Perform any other task as directed by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in capital projects execution with at least 5 years in a leadership position in industrial, chemical, or process-intensive environments.
Requirements
Valid Driver’s License to drive company vehicles on and off property.
Proven leadership experience managing large teams and complex, $10-100MM+ projects.
Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within operational facilities and communicate with cross-functional teams.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
Employees must have a willingness to promote safety among the workforce, participate in Process Hazard Analysis procedures and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
Required PPE may include, but is not limited to, hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
Employees may be subject to extreme weather conditions when working in an outdoor setting (heat and cold, wind).
Employees must pass a full-face respiratory fit test.
Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs.
