The Department of Social Work at Roberts Wesleyan University invites applications for one full-time (11-month) program director (faculty) for our synchronous online MSW Program.
Roberts Wesleyan University is a comprehensive, Christian university of the liberal arts, sciences, and professions serving approximately 1,800 traditional and nontraditional students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The University is committed to integrating a Christian worldview with learning in order to prepare thoughtful, spiritually mature, service-oriented people who will help transform society. Qualifications Required qualifications for candidates include :
A Doctoral degree in Social Work or a related field
A Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution
At least two years post-MSW practice experience with children, youth, families, or in mental health / behavioral health settings
At least two years of higher education teaching experience (preferably at the Master’s level or with adult students)
Administrative or leadership experience
Preferred qualifications for candidates include :
Prior experience teaching in online or hybrid environments
A license in clinical social work (e.g., LCSW)
A record of scholarship
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to Christian faith that is consistent with the mission of the University. Responsibilities The Program Director is responsible for ensuring the quality of the faculty and the academic program. These responsibilities include a variety of tasks related to staffing, evaluation, and development. The Program Director provides input to the Dean regarding faculty and staffing needs, serves on committees, and identifies and recommends qualified program adjuncts. The director provides input for full-time faculty reviews, promotions, and sabbaticals. They also assist faculty with student, classroom, or program concerns. Additionally, the Program Director reviews course and faculty evaluations to identify challenges or opportunities and supports adjuncts.
The Program Director ensures the program's mission aligns with the School's and the University's goals and accreditation standards. They develop and monitor admissions standards, and continuously review and recommend curricular and procedural revisions. The director is responsible for coordinating and overseeing program assessment, leading program planning, and serving as the primary contact for the program for various stakeholders, including students, alums, and other external constituents. Finally, the Program Director is involved in managing the program's resources, including providing input for, and management of, the program's budget.
Teaching responsibilities could include any course in our synchronous online MSW curriculum, with particular needs in clinical / practice courses at the generalist level and the two areas of specialized practice: 1) Child and Family Services, and 2) Mental Health.
Additional faculty responsibilities include advising MSW students, engaging in scholarship, collaborating to develop new initiatives and community partnerships, engaging in service, and preparing for accreditation. The University bases promotion and tenure on achievement across four broad categories: teaching, scholarship, professional activity, and service.
