The Minneapolis Business Management Director (BMD) functions as the lead business manager for the Minneapolis office and serves as the “right hand” to the Office Leader. Through leadership of the staffing function, the BMD optimizes the deployment of BCG consulting resources to meet office, system, and region needs, while ensuring each BCG consulting staff member receives the right development opportunities throughout their career. Together with the Office Leader, the Great Lakes System Lead, and Managing Directors and Partners, the BMD manages the full employment life cycle of the BCG non-MDP consulting team in Minneapolis. Responsibilities include staffing, oversight of professional development processes (career development, training, transition, teaming, etc.), affiliation/retention programs, recruiting, pyramid management, and other programs related to career and development of the BCG Consulting Team. The BMD ensures the office has the right number of people with relevant skills to meet current and future needs, in alignment with priorities of affiliated business units (X, PLA, TDA) and a OneBCG mindset. As the most senior member of the Business Services Team, the BMD ensures smooth day-to-day operations focused on service, excellence and business acumen, and fosters a positive office culture for all Minneapolis staff. The BMD is responsible for general office management and acts as a leadership voice for BCG in the office, system, and region. The BMD partners with counterparts in other offices and serves on the North America Business Leadership Team (NABLT) to pilot programs, drive regional change, and implement policies related to local staff. The role reports to the Minneapolis Office Leader and champions a OneBCG culture for approximately 120 staff in Minneapolis. Note:

Coordinate across and participate in activities related to development, mentorship, recruitment and retention of the BCG non-MDP Consulting Team in Minneapolis; assure affiliation across business units within the offices. Manage professional development of all BCG consulting staff and oversee Career Development processes for core staff. Maintain and develop mentorship relationships and programs; support career transition, transfer and mobility programs. Manage compensation processes in line with regional policies; ensure effective recruitment of staff at all levels. Provide leadership for people-related initiatives and projects; act as primary point person for morale, retention, diversity, equity, and inclusion issues; serve on the Office Culture Steering Committee. Monitor people metrics (pulse surveys, teaming reports) and implement continuous improvement programs. Coordinate with Office Experience to plan events; oversee office events from small lunches to multi-day retreats and team-building activities. Provide thought leadership on initiatives addressing people issues; plan for and manage the core consulting pyramid to support business objectives. Forecast staff needs with Great Lakes System Finance; ensure growth strategy accounts for pyramid considerations; lead staffing with system and regional counterparts. Staff Minneapolis Project Leaders, Principals, and Partners; provide thought partnership on career development and platform-building. Provide insight on business state and trends from staffing perspective; ensure staffing aligns with Career Development processes and BCG values. Lead the Office-Based Business Services Team (BST); build a high-performing team; coach direct reports; develop indirect reports; recruit, hire, train, and oversee local BST with regional support. Oversee local BST compensation, budgeting, reporting, and communications; manage office infrastructure including IT, HR, real estate, and services; coordinate with regional/global function leaders. Ensure safe and effective facilities management, space planning, relocations, and vendor relationships; manage office security and incident response. Coordinate office budgeting and profitability; support finance functions with cost management and financial analyses; ensure revenue planning and tracking. Support leadership initiatives and regional policies; develop annual strategic and financial plans; lead key meetings and initiatives; contribute to Great Lakes Management teams. Represent the Minneapolis office on NABLT and support regional initiatives; act as liaison for regional policies and participate in NABLT activities. What You’ll Bring
This is a demanding position requiring technical qualifications and strong intangible attributes. You should have: A minimum of 8 years of work experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility, preferably within a professional services firm. The ideal candidate will have either: Direct consulting services management experience or leadership in a top management consulting firm, or Experience in a corporate environment known for administrative and operational excellence, talent management and HR administration, or Prior experience in BCG in similar roles. Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other professional degree preferred. Key competencies Ability to perform in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, client-oriented environment; strong interpersonal skills to build teams and relationships across a loosely structured organization. Understanding of business operations and prioritization across competing demands. Empathetic leadership and team management experience; ability to develop talent. Occasional travel may be required. Compensation Information The base salary range is $175,000-$225,000. Total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund contributions, and a comprehensive benefits package described below. Benefits include zero-dollar health insurance premiums for employees and dependents; low copays; dental and vision coverage; gym reimbursement; fully vested Profit Sharing; paid parental leave and family benefits; generous paid time off; sick leave; and domestic partner coverage where applicable.
