Overview

Lead the definition, evaluation, and validation of advanced LiDAR-based sensing systems. This role bridges system architecture, physical sensor modeling, and performance evaluation across optical, electrical, mechanical, and software domains. You’ll translate customer requirements into measurable KPIs and deliver sensor concepts that perform reliably under real-world conditions. What you’ll do

Evaluate end-to-end sensor performance from front-end optics to back-end processing Contribute to system-level features and algorithms (calibration, scan pattern generation, performance monitoring) Support system and sensor architecture in collaboration with optics, electrical, mechanical, and software teams Build and validate physical sensor models (optical, thermal, electrical) for diverse conditions Translate customer requirements into KPIs; define validation strategies to confirm compliance Design and specify scan strategies/patterns optimized for coverage, detection, and accuracy Develop and apply high-fidelity simulations; correlate simulated outputs with real-world KPI measurements Contribute to thermal concept definition and partner with hardware/mechanical/test teams for lab and field validation Analyze and define the complete signal path, ensuring compliance with established KPIs Deliver requirements and system design documentation; ensure traceability aligned with ASPICE and industry standards Support engineering process definition and execution to improve efficiency and consistency Collaborate cross-functionally to drive KPI-driven, system-level performance What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field 8+ years in automotive sensing systems, including 5+ years in LiDAR sensor design/architecture/performance engineering Expertise in system architecture, KPI-driven performance evaluation, and physical modeling/simulation of LiDAR sensors Hands-on experience with LiDAR raw data analysis, performance validation, and sensor benchmarking Proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, and simulation frameworks (e.g., OptiX, VTD, NVIDIA DriveSim) Experience with thermal simulation, validation, and system integration Familiarity with ASPICE, AUTOSAR, MISRA, and automotive V-Model processes Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills in multidisciplinary, international teams Why this role

Shape next-generation LiDAR and sensor architectures that enable safe, scalable autonomous mobility. Contribute across the full lifecycle—from requirement definition and KPI translation through simulation and real-world validation—working closely with experts across multiple engineering domains. Nice to have (optional)

Experience building KPI dashboards/automation for validation pipelines Exposure to safety standards (ISO 26262) and real-time embedded systems Experience correlating synthetic sensor data with on-road datasets Seniority level
