Overview
FM - San Francisco Operations, is currently accepting applications for a Jurisdictional Consultant in the State of California. This position is primarily responsible for conducting in-service inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with the applicable jurisdiction. Ideally located in the San Joaquin Valley between Fresno and Sacramento. Responsibilities
Work with your assigned service group (territory) and perform in-service inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with applicable rules and jurisdictional requirements. Travel week-long periods with some overnight hotel stays and work from a home office; may involve work in confined spaces or at heights with appropriate safety equipment. Work independently and make sound decisions related to travel, work expenses, report timeliness, time management, and use of company equipment and intellectual property. Inspect according to the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Rules, ASME Code of Construction, and applicable jurisdictional laws and rules on behalf of FM clients. Perform inspections of varying scope at low to high exposure locations and occupancies to mitigate risk factors. Report observations and findings to supervisors and clients, maintaining thorough documentation and timely communication. Qualifications
Experience in the Pressure Equipment Industry in one or more of the following areas: engineering or design review; manufacturing or boiler and pressure vessel construction; operation of a steam plant 50,000 pounds per hour; repairs, alteration or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels; inspection of boilers or pressure vessels; NDE examination of boilers or pressure vessels. Microsoft Office applications experience is required. Education: an associate degree from a 2-year technical/vocational school/engineering college or a high school diploma (GED acceptable) with technical knowledge of boiler and machinery equipment obtained through work experience; or equivalent. Candidates who already hold a National Board In-Service Commission (IS), and/or state commissions within California, are preferred. Candidates without a National Board IS Commission will be considered and may be required to complete an assigned training course and pass the National Board IS Commission test within six months of employment. National Board 'R' endorsement is preferred; knowledge of the Jurisdiction Online database system is a plus. Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical) is a plus; additional National Board Endorsements are a plus. Minimum of five (5) credit points based on the combination of education and experience in the pressure equipment industry, meeting NB-263, RCI-1 requirements (as listed in NB documentation available online). As a remote employee, the consultant must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to understand and explain boiler and pressure vessel deficiencies and provide loss prevention recommendations to clients. Strong organizational, communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; effective time management and problem-solving abilities; proficient computer skills. Must be a team player, aiming for successful results for the company and clients.
