Managerial Director, Capital Projects The Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations at Rowan University is a growing enterprise. The Division’s mission is to create and sustain a vibrant, safe, supportive environment at Rowan’s campuses. The Division leads in facilities, campus planning, development and maintenance and is led by the Vice President for Real Estate Development and Capital Projects/Executive Director SJTP, a member of the President’s executive cabinet. The Department of Capital Projects is part of the Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations. Through collaboration with the Division and campus community, this department manages Capital Projects for the University, including but not limited to the Glassboro Campus, Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, the Joint Health Science Building, Camden Academic Bank Building, the West Campus and South Jersey Tech Park, School of Veterinary Medicine and the Nursing School. Under the supervision of the Vice President for Real Estate Development and Capital Projects/Executive Director SJTP, and working with project managers and support staff, the Director of Capital Projects will lead and manage day-to-day operations for the Capital Projects department. This individual will direct, manage, and motivate Capital Project professionals to achieve the department’s goals and serve as a liaison with the university community and external constituents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversight of the design, development, and implementation of the West Campus Master Plan. Lead and direct the Capital Project department including management, coaching and mentoring of the Project Manager, Capital Projects. Conduct performance management and staff development. Envision and develop the Capital stack for proposed projects including the development of financial proformas. Work with end users to develop building programs. Oversee the overall budget and cost accounting for all assigned projects, in collaboration with the Planning team. Provide regular updates to the Vice President on project status, risks, and opportunities. Lead, direct, and manage various construction projects. Ensure project scope, contractual obligations, and requirements are met. Participate in the Annual Capital Budget process for the department and the university. Lead, manage, and implement department initiatives. Periodically present to the campus community and other groups on upcoming and current projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude reasonable assignment of related duties. Requirements
Education: Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or similar required; MBA and/or JD preferred Experience: Preferred ten (10) years of experience in real estate development including demonstrated team management and budget responsibilities. Detail-oriented with excellent time management and ability to meet schedules. Ability to lead large, complex projects or programs and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams. Project management skills including integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; ability to work with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, financial specialists, and legal counsel. Working knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; ability to interpret construction documents and understand land use considerations. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, project management software, Adobe programs, and Bluebeam is a plus. Strong financial and contract management and negotiation skills. Knowledge of building systems, construction techniques, and sustainable design. Integrity, sound judgment, leadership, and effective communication; ability to work with diverse stakeholders. Ability to communicate effectively in a demanding environment and manage confidential information. Salary & Benefits
In compliance with The State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $99,000 to $115,500. Salary offers consider position scope, experience, education, and market factors. Eligible benefits include comprehensive NJ health, dental, and retirement options, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents (undergraduate degree reimbursement only for spouse/dependents).
