The rapidly expanding Hospitalist Medicine Program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a Pediatrician/Pediatric Hospitalist to join our team as a Staff Physician. Our Hospitalist Program is set in a world-class medical environment and allows for hands-on patient experiences covering a full range of hematologic and oncologic diagnoses. We are recruiting highly motivated individuals who enjoy both inpatient and urgent care practice to join our program. The Hospitalist Medicine Program includes approximately 14 physicians and 12 advanced practice providers, many of whom are board certified in pediatric hematology/oncology. In this role, you will treat patients on the inpatient units (night shifts) and in our on-site outpatient acute care clinic (24/7). We offer a flexible schedule with approximately 14 shifts per month (shifts are 9-12.5 hours). This position may work weekdays, weeknights, and/or weekends. As an integral member of the hospitalist team, you will work with nursing staff, advanced practice practitioners, hospitalist colleagues, primary oncologists, and subspecialty physicians to ensure quality clinical care for St. Jude patients. Night coverage includes multiple hospitalist providers with Pediatric Intensive Care support also available in-house 24/7. Top subspecialty and surgical support are available on home call each evening. Members of the Hospitalist Program are active in medical education, quality and patient safety initiatives, clinical education of trainees, and clinical research. Works with clinical staff to ensure the safety and quality of clinical care and support for patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Supervises staff, performs patient care duties, and ensures compliance and accurate reporting. Responsibilities

Performs patient-care duties according to established standards, policies, procedures, and patient-specific protocols. Annually demonstrates performance competency in areas including obtaining informed consent for research, patient history and physical examinations, ordering diagnostic studies, interpreting data, determining treatment plans, monitoring responses, referrals, patient and family support, and documenting with clinical privileges. Prescribes medications and writes drug orders in accordance with clinical privileges; monitors patients according to SJCRH standards. Provides consultation to nursing staff regarding clinical care, discharge planning, and complex medical cases; collaborates with primary physicians and subspecialists on patient care decisions. Evaluates medication needs and sources of treatment, and communicates effectively with primary physicians and families. Provides reports to third-party providers and subspecialists; participates as a member of clinical care teams; complies with staff bylaws and regulations. Directly supervises assigned staff, participates in performance appraisals, and promotes staff development and education; supports clinical education of trainees and fellows. Maintains compliance with HCFA billing guidelines and regulatory requirements; develops mechanisms to monitor quality and compliance; provides status reports to the Department Chair. Demonstrates knowledge of age-related care and growth/development principles for all ages served; provides age-appropriate care for patients from infancy to young adulthood (0-20 years). Participates in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts. Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance. Minimum Education and Training

Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics required; board certification or eligibility in a pediatric subspecialty preferred. Experience

Experience in pediatrics or a pediatric subspecialty preferred. Licensure and Certification

Unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Tennessee. Must maintain active unrestricted privileges at SJCRH. Special Skills

In recognition of state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude provides a reasonable estimate of the compensation range. The current estimated range is $167,377 - $347,630 per year for the role of Staff Physician-Hospitalist. The final offer depends on skills, experience, licensure, and organizational needs.
