On behalf of the Mandel JCC, Purple Unicorn Enterprises is seeking a proven development leader. The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) — a dynamic, results-driven fundraising professional with a passion for building community and driving philanthropy. This innovative, high-energy leader applies a relationship-focused strategy to foster connections with new donors and nurture existing ones. In partnership with colleagues and volunteers, the CDO creates personalized solicitation strategies, stewardship plans, and ambassador assignments for top-tier donors, while working closely with programming staff to secure corporate sponsorships for key agency activities. The CDO will also lead efforts to measure and communicate the impact of the agency and its programs—developing systems, training staff, analyzing data, and translating results into compelling marketing and development materials. STRATEGIC PLANNING & LEADERSHIP
Collaborate with professional and lay leadership to set fundraising goals and execute a unified, relationship-driven development plan. Provide dedicated support to leaders and ambassadors managing $1,000+ donor relationships, ensuring stewardship and solicitation plans are implemented effectively. Partner with C-level leaders to strategize and engage major donors, creating long-term pathways for increased giving. Design and manage development committee structures, including donor assignments, meeting agendas, and fundraising reports. Lead long-term planning for capital, endowment, and planned giving campaigns, collaborating with the CEO to establish comprehensive growth strategies. Partner with the marketing team to design campaign communications that inspire action and reflect impact. FUNDRAISING, REVENUE GROWTH & DONOR ENGAGEMENT
Major Gifts & Campaigns : Cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts at the 6–7 figure level. Annual Giving & Events : Oversee annual campaigns and signature events that drive engagement and revenue. Capital & Planned Giving : Lead capital campaigns, grow the endowment, and expand planned giving initiatives. Corporate & Foundation Partnerships : Secure sponsorships and grants that align with community needs and program priorities. New Revenue Sources : Identify and pursue innovative opportunities to diversify funding streams. Culture of Philanthropy : Inspire staff, volunteers, and board members to embrace fundraising as a shared responsibility. DONOR STEWARDSHIP & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Serve as the chief relationship builder—ensuring donors feel valued, informed, and connected to the mission. Guide board members, lay leaders, and volunteers in active fundraising and stewardship. Oversee donor recognition, reporting, and CRM systems to ensure accuracy and timely follow-up. Translate donor impact into meaningful stories and touchpoints that deepen engagement and loyalty. OPERATIONS, BUDGET & COMPLIANCE
Manage the development department budget, ensuring efficient use of resources. Monitor fundraising performance, donor metrics, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with ethical standards, reporting requirements, and audit obligations. Oversee staff performance and create an environment of accountability, growth, and collaboration. EXTERNAL RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS
Partner with marketing/communications to produce cases for support, annual reports, digital campaigns, and donor-facing materials. Represent the Mandel JCC at fundraising events, community forums, and with local business and civic partners. Build bridges with Jewish and broader community organizations to expand influence and reach. WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience : 7+ years in fundraising/development, with demonstrated success in major gifts, campaigns, and planned giving. Leadership : Proven ability to lead teams and inspire a culture of philanthropy. Track Record : Consistent achievement of fundraising goals, securing large gifts, and running successful campaigns. Relationship Building : Exceptional interpersonal skills with donors, boards, volunteers, and staff. Strategic Thinking : Ability to set long-term strategy, adapt to change, and use data for decision-making. Operational Acumen : Strong budget management, project management, and organizational skills. Cultural Fit : Understanding of Jewish values, traditions, and community dynamics. Education : Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT & CULTURE
Based across Mandel JCC–Palm Beach Gardens, Mandel JCC–Boynton Beach, and the Jewish Federation in West Palm Beach. Full-time senior position, with some evenings and weekends required for events and donor meetings. Travel within South Florida and occasional national travel.
