Overview
We are seeking an experienced Domestic Tax Manager to join our corporate tax function. This role focuses on reducing tax risk, supporting transactions, providing accurate tax guidance, and ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations for domestic insurance entities as well as non-insurance subsidiaries. This is an individual contributor position with significant exposure across tax compliance, reporting, and planning. Hybrid 2-3 days/week in Boston, MA Base pay range
$140,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Additional compensation types
Annual Bonus Team Structure
Reporting to the leader of the domestic tax team within corporate tax, this role supports both life insurance and non-insurance operations. The group is responsible for federal and state tax compliance, GAAP and statutory tax accounting (including quarterly and annual provisions), and providing insights for planning and forecasting. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 (GAAP) and SSAP 101 (statutory accounting). Complete and review federal and state tax filings for insurance and non-insurance subsidiaries. Support audits (statutory, GAAP, and IRS). Contribute to tax planning strategies, including M&A activity, legislative impact modeling, and capital planning initiatives. Conduct tax technical research and prepare documentation of conclusions. Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external auditors. Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and efficiency. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of corporate tax accounting experience, including ASC 740. Preferred Qualifications
Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax. Experience with insurance tax provisions and statutory accounting. Familiarity with tax compliance systems, general ledger platforms, and research tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines. CPA license or advanced tax degree (MST) preferred. Seniority level
