OSI Engineering
Overview
A globally leading technology company is looking for a
Battery Thermal Engineer
to join its Battery Modeling team. You will be responsible for thermal modeling across all products and work closely with the Product Design team from the earliest stages, analyzing and informing the design of cutting-edge technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide design guidance on the thermal impact of product features and help shape innovative solutions. Base pay range: $50.00/hr - $67.00/hr Job Responsibilities
Develop state-of-the-art thermal and multi-physics finite element (FE) models of cells, packs, and BMS subsystems Provide design and trade-off guidance to Product Design teams through early-stage simulations (e.g., fast charging and high power functions) Generate models/capabilities to convert power maps into thermal outputs Perform advanced Thermal/CFD simulations to evaluate boundary conditions at the cell, pack, and BMS subsystems within battery packs and system-level contexts Use best-in-class tools and solvers to generate necessary simulation models and results Collaborate with test and reliability labs to develop physical test methods and gather data for validation Work with system teams to develop detailed sub-models for assembly-level simulations Develop optimized workflows and reusable templates for regularly required thermal simulations Develop and implement thermal modeling best practices Engage with CAE vendors to drive functionality improvements for the group Explore new analysis types and solutions, including topological optimization Extract Reduced Order Models (ROM) from CFD simulations to speed up exploratory studies Minimum Qualifications
PhD + 3 years of industry experience Mechanical or electrical engineering background with strong foundation in CFD and thermal modeling Expert-level skillset with Ansys Electronic Desktop and Icepak Familiarity with Ansys HFSS 3D Layout and SIWave Experience in transient thermal simulations of assemblies Familiarity with NX, Comsol, Cadence Experience in electronics cooling Familiarity with multi-physics coupled modeling (mechanical, thermal, electrochemical) Python or other scripting languages US Citizen/Green Card + no export compliance restrictions Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Allegro and electronics layout design Familiarity with Li-ion cells and battery packs Experience in defining and leading technical development roadmaps Experience in managing project teams Details
Type: Contract Duration: 12 months (with the possibility for extension) Pay rate: $52.00 - $67.00 (DOE)
