Overview
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia is unique in the size and scope of its work. It serves as both the local and the federal prosecutor for the nation's capital. On the local side, AUSAs assigned to the Superior Court Division prosecute cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. On the federal side, AUSAs assigned to the Criminal Division prosecute federal crimes. The Civil Division defends the United States in civil suits brought in the District of Columbia. Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-7 level you must meet the basic requirement with Education, Experience or Superior Academic Achievement and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 federal level. Basic Requirement: Education : 1 full year of graduate level education. Education must demonstrate the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work with a degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. OR Superior Academic Achievement: Possess a Bachelors Degree AND possess at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in the major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum; OR election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. OR Experience: Have IT related experience, obtained through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, demonstrating each of the following competences: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized Experience is defined as performing the following types of duties: providing assistance involving multiple IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the office; providing IT customer support by troubleshooting, recovering, diagnosing, and resolving hardware/software problems in response to reported incidents by customers; assisting with the installation, configuration, upgrade and troubleshooting of commonly used hardware/software systems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications and training, including orientation for new users; monitoring functionality, security and integrity of the networks and programs, by promoting awareness and understanding of adhering to systems security policies and procedures; implementing policies and procedures to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data; providing input to local IT policy and planning. ICTAP/CTAP and Veterans/Other Considerations Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)
– The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
