Cybersecurity Operations Technical Lead (SOC Engineer SME)

will provide leadership and subject matter expertise to support enterprise security operations for a federal agency. This role is responsible for managing and guiding geographically dispersed security teams, ensuring the effective implementation, tuning, and maintenance of advanced cybersecurity tools and technologies. The position requires close collaboration with senior executives and technical staff to safeguard systems, monitor threats, and respond to incidents in both cloud and on-premises environments. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to operate in a complex, mission-driven cybersecurity environment.

This role is based on-site, in Washington, DC. The ability to obtain and retain a Public Trust level clearance is a condition of employment. Key Responsibilities

Lead cybersecurity operations and provide subject matter expertise in SOC engineering. Manage and support geographically dispersed security teams, ensuring operational success both locally and remotely. Collaborate with senior executives, managers, and subject matter experts to address cybersecurity needs and risks. Oversee the implementation, tuning, and maintenance of advanced security tools and technologies. Support incident response, monitoring, and defense of enterprise systems across cloud and on-premises environments. Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to improve cybersecurity operations and ensure compliance with organizational standards. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity or related field Proven experience managing and/or leading successful local and remote teams in an operational environment Demonstrated ability to interact authoritatively with a diverse group of senior executives, managers, and subject matter experts Ability to work effectively across complex, geographically dispersed teams Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication 8+ years’ experience implementing, tuning, maintaining, and operating security operations capabilities such as: Firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, NDR, Antivirus, Email Content Filtering, Web Content Filtering, and virtual technologies Salary Range: $175,000 – $240,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
