What You Will Do

Design and develop mechanical structures for optical components, systems, and instruments Perform detailed CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and thermal/structural simulations Collaborate with optical engineers to ensure alignment and stability of optical systems Lead mechanical design reviews and interface with vendors and manufacturing partners Lead or support prototype assembly, integration, and environmental testing Design, development and analysis of custom tooling, fixtures and manufacturing aids Document designs and generate drawings for fabrication and assembly Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and optomechanical issues in prototypes and products Lead or support technical research and contribute to continuous process improvement activities Collaborate with Operations and Quality on New Product Introduction and Non-Standard Production Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 5 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience Experience in optomechanical design and development Proficient in 3D CAD software including SolidWorks, Creo, or similar Experience with optical mounts, alignment techniques, and athermal design Familiarity with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) for thermal and structural analysis Strong understanding of GD&T, DFM/DFA principles Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills Qualifications We Prefer

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field Experience with spaceborne, airborne, or ruggedized optical systems Opto-mechanical, electro-mechanical or visual displays experience Familiarity with cleanroom practices and optical assembly techniques Proficient with hand tools and light power tools 8+ years of experience with SolidWorks or Creo 8+ years of experience in optomechanical design and analysis What We Offer
