Overview

The Interventional Radiologic Tech will perform high quality interventional procedures and diagnostic exams while providing excellent patient care. PRN- As Needed- Variable/Flexible Shifts available Qualifications

Minimum Work Experience 1 year Clinical Interventional experience in a hospital environment (Preferred) Required Licenses and Certifications ARRT or Equivalent (Required) Responsibilities

Performance of Special Imaging Procedures: Direct and control the flow of patients; serve as department liaison with nursing service and anesthesia; perform daily quality control testing of equipment specific to interventional radiology; understand and perform all aspects of neuro, vascular and non-vascular interventional exams; assist interventional physicians as directed and in the diagnostic area when necessary; schedule exams as required. Quality Control: Assure permanent film identification by using lead markers; identify each radiograph/image with proper and permanent patient data; follow correct procedures regarding warm-up, use and shut-down of equipment; check paperwork, film jackets and patient charges for accuracy prior to submission and complete RIS assignments immediately following exam; ensure cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment by all personnel; assume Quality Assurance responsibilities to assist technologists and radiologists in determining acceptability of images. Patient Care: Greet patients respectfully, introduce self to patient and treat all patients/families in a kind, courteous and professional manner; assure room is prepared & stocked prior to start of exam; explain exam to patients/parents; make every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add-on requests; communicate with patient throughout the exam and release patient/parent with appropriate follow-up info; present a neat and professional image via appropriate dress and grooming; equally share on-call responsibilities with all interventional technologists. Clinical Safety: Adhere to all OSHA regulations; inquire about menstrual status and possibility of pregnancy for female adolescents and teens; shield patients whenever possible; practice personal radiation safety; ensure Time Outs are conducted prior to start of procedure; train and orient new technologists within the Modality; troubleshoot equipment and computer issues in conjunction with Radiology Manager and IT staff; ensure all staff comply with departmental requirement for use of personal protection equipment and monitoring (lead Aprons, gloves and wearing film badge). Professional Development: Maintain A.R.R.T. certification; biennially update CPR certification; complete mandatory annual reviews; attend seminars and in-services.
