Administer database security to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, assist in the writing of TSQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and update data. Develop Integration Services (SSIS) Packages where appropriate Participate as a member of a systems design team during the Software Development Life Cycle of a project Create and monitor database jobs that perform database validation checks or handle the automation of importing/exporting data Develop and maintain database dictionary reference guides for all databases Develop and maintain entity/relationship diagrams for all databases Establish and maintain standards to be followed by database programming staff Develop new reports or modify existing reports using Crystal Reports, Cognos, and Microsoft SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) Develop new software applications or modify existing applications using Microsoft Visual Studio (VB.Net, C#, ASP.NET, Blazor) and SQL Management Studio Benefits

OPEN COMPETITIVE Either: Graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or Management Information Systems from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State, and one (1) year of experience in systems analysis and computer programming which includes web application development OR Graduation with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or Management Information Systems from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State, and three (3) years of experience in systems analysis and computer programming which includes web application development Or: Graduation from standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and five (5) years of experience in systems analysis and computer programming which includes web application development Or: An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of a), b), and c). Web application development is the creation of application programs that reside on remote servers and are delivered to the user’s device over the Internet, and is distinguished from Windows-based application development. Notes: Coursework in computer programming or computer technology from a non-degree granting computer training institution may be accepted based upon credit hour equivalence. All computer programming experience must have been gained in the last five (5) years. PROMOTIONAL: Two (2) years of permanent competitive status as a Computer Programmer or Website Manager. This Role Is A Provisional Appointment: A provisional appointment is a temporary appointment to a position for which no eligible list exists or for which an eligible list exists with fewer than three candidates who are willing to accept the position. To become permanent, the employee who is provisionally appointed must take the next examination for the position. The appointment is then made from among the three highest scoring passing candidates who indicate their willingness to accept the position. Civil Service law does not compel the appointing authority to choose the provisional employee should he or she be one of the three candidates.
