Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting leadership opportunity for a Software Developer. Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. We provide cradle-to-grave services for primary and secondary composite structures. This is an onsite position based out of our San Diego, CA HQ office. Position Summary
The Software Developer will design and deliver end-to-end solutions that drive efficiency and innovation across Rock West Composites’ business operations. This role involves transforming complex business challenges into scalable software applications ranging from financial forecasting and production scheduling to supply chain and quality systems, while leveraging Microsoft technologies, NetSuite, and emerging AI tools. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem-solver who thrives on owning projects from concept through deployment and ensuring secure, high-quality, and maintainable solutions. Responsibilities
Identify, scope, and solve complex business problems by building software solutions from scratch. Opportunities for improvement include financial forecasting, budget variance reporting, resource planning, production scheduling, KPI tracking, quality management systems (ISO9001/AS9100), supply chain management, and stock transactional/summary reporting. Transform vague requirements and business pain points into concrete technical implementations. Take full ownership of projects from conception through deployment and testing. Research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies and AI tools to solve unique challenges. Build end-to-end solutions across the technology stack, with emphasis on Microsoft technologies (Azure, .NET, SQL Server, SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, Office 365). Design and implement APIs, databases, user interfaces, and system integrations. Design and implement workflows and scripts in Oracle NetSuite. Provide strategic planning in coordination with the IT Manager for information technology infrastructure and resources. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that other developers can understand and extend. Implement robust error handling, logging, and monitoring for production systems. Ensure security best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle. Work effectively within Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies as projects require. Manage project timelines and deliverables independently with minimal oversight. Communicate progress, blockers, and technical decisions clearly to stakeholders and/or leadership. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements while maintaining solution quality. Demonstrate organization, self-motivation, attention to detail, and accuracy. Collaborate effectively as a team player. Navigate different functional groups and priority conflicts. Comply with Rock West Composites’ policies, procedures, and code of business conduct. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional full-stack development experience with Microsoft technology stack (NET, C#, Azure, SQL Server, and related technologies). Ability to work across frontend, backend, database, and integration layers; proficiency in modern back-end and front-end development technologies. Demonstrated visionary experience: portfolio of projects built from scratch that solved real business problems. Problem-solving track record: examples of complex technical challenges you have independently researched and solved. Strong relational database skills. Experience mentoring and managing is a plus. Experience with Alteryx and Tableau is a plus. Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills and ability to work across all areas of the business.
