Overview
General Council on Finance and Administration of the United Methodist Church (GCFA) seeks a faithful, authentic, and forward-thinking leader to serve as General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (GS/CEO). GCFA is a nonprofit agency serving the Church since the 1940s, a servant ministry of the Church accountable for its financial plan and budgets, collection and distribution of revenues, and protecting the legal rights and interests of the denomination. Within the decentralized structure of the UMC, GCFA promotes fiscal integrity, strategic alliance building, and steadfast leadership to enable the mission and ministry of the UMC and supports the denomination through ongoing change toward a sustainable future." Responsibilities Lead GCFA and its staff in defining goals and facilitating the organization’s Disciplinary and other responsibilities in alignment with the mission and ministry of the UMC. Serve as Treasurer of GCFA and as General Treasurer of the General Conference of the UMC. Ex officio member of the Board of the United Methodist Insurance Program and the United Methodist Church Foundation Board (now InvestUMC). Collaborate with connectional partners, including the Council of Bishops, General Secretaries and Board members of UMC agencies, and Treasurers of Annual Conferences. Oversee the executive leadership team and a total GCFA staff of 57. Qualifications Advanced degree; substantial experience in executive-level financial or administrative leadership within a multi-layered organization, preferably with some experience as the chief executive. Strong leadership, strategic and fiscal acumen, and the ability to interpret financial information and align budgets with strategic priorities. Proven collaborative and relational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to interact with constituents at all levels. Political astuteness and understanding of leadership dynamics in a denominational setting. Active member of a UMC congregation. Position Details Location: Nashville, Tennessee (full-time position with expectation of regular presence approximately 25% of the time in Nashville).
